Two strong earthquakes caused tremors in two different places in the Philippines today.
Two categorized moderately strong earthquakes hit the Philippines today in two different places: one in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and the other in Santiago, Ilocos Sur, posted on the earthquake bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Jan. 16, 2024.
A magnitude of 4.0 earthquake that occurred 11 kilometers (km) deep caused tremors in Santiago, Ilocos Sur at 12:14 p.m., while the same magnitude 10 km deep also hit the Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental at 2:39 p.m. Both, the Phivolcs reported, caused no damage and expected aftershocks. RQJ
