President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., declared Wednesday, June 28, 2023, a regular holiday in the entire country, the Proclamation 258 stated, signed on June 13, 2023.
The declaration for a regular holiday on Wednesday is in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), one of the two major Islamic holidays—Eid’l Fit’r and Eid’l Adha.
This observance, furthermore, is in accord with Republic Act 9849, approved on Dec. 11, 2009, by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, declaring the 10th day of Zhui Hijja, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. This Act provides that Eid’l Adha shall be celebrated as a national holiday. RQJ
