By the authority of President Bongbong Marcos, Proclamation 467 was signed declaring March 1, 2024, a special non-working day in Davao City.

The proclamation said that March 1 marked the 87th celebration of “Araw ng Dabaw.”

Davao City is a 1st class highly urbanized city that lies in the southeastern part of the Philippines. With a total land area of 2,444 square kilometers (sq. km.), it prided itself as the largest city in the country by total land area. The city has 3 congressional districts which are further divided into 11 administrative districts.

Meanwhile, Rappler, in its article published on Dec. 9, 2020, debunked the published information that Davao City is the largest city in the world. Rather, it asserted that the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut metro region is the largest by physical size spanning over 12,000 sq. km.
