3 Philippine universities make a debut in QS Asia rankings; one in world

The QS Asia University Rankings 2024 published on Nov. 8, 2023, by the global QS Quacquarelli Symonds revealed that three Philippine universities made it to the rankings for the first time. The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), the Far Eastern University (FEU), and the Mindanao State University (MSU – Marawi) were included in the 2024 top universities in Asia.

Moreover, the University of San Carlos (USC) was included in the QS World University Rankings 2024 for the first time. USC ranked 1201-1400.

Meanwhile, PUP is ranked 551–600, along with USC and Adamson University, in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024. Furthermore, FEU ranked 701-750 and MSU-Marawi at 801+ in the rankings.

Philippine universities make a debut in QS Asia rankings 2024

The top Philippine universities based on the 2024 QS Asia University Rankings are as follows:

  1. University of the Philippines (UP) — ranked 78 in 2024; ranked 87 in 2023, and ranked 412 and 404 in 2023 and 2024 QS World University Rankings (QS World), respectively.
  2. Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) — ranked 137 in 2024; ranked 134 in 2023, and ranked 651–700 and 563 in 2023 and 2024 QS World, respectively.
  3. De La Salle University (DLSU) — ranked 154 in 2024; ranked 171 in 2023, and ranked 801–1000 and 681–690 in 2023 and 2024 QS World, respectively.
  4. University of Sto. Tomas (UST) — ranked 179 in 2024; ranked 175 in 2023, and ranked 801–1000 and 801–850 in 2023 and 2024 QS World, respectively.
  5. Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) — ranked 551–600 in 2024 (first time).
    University of San Carlos (USC) — ranked 551–600 in 2024; ranked 451–500 in 2021 (the last time it makes in the ranking), and ranked 1201–1400 in QS World University Ranking 2024 (first time).
    Adamson University (AdU) — ranked 551–600 in 2024; ranked 701–750 in 2023.
  6. Mapua University (MU) — ranked 601–650 in 2024; ranked 551–600 in 2023.
    Silliman University (SU) — ranked 601–650 in 2024; ranked 551–600 in 2023.
  7. Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) — ranked 651–700 in 2024; ranked 551–600 in 2023.
  8. Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU – IIT) — ranked 701–750 in 2024; ranked 601–650 in 2023.
    Far Eastern University (FEU) — ranked 701–750 in 2024 (first time)
  9. Saint Louis University (SLU) — ranked 751–800 in 2024; ranked 651–700 in 2023.
  10. Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan or Xavier) — ranked 801+ in 2024; ranked 651–700 in 2023.
    Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila (LPU) — ranked 801+ in 2024; ranked 701–750 in 2023.
    Mindanao State University – Marawi (MSU – Marawi) — ranked 801+ in 2024 (first time).

Meanwhile, the following Philippine universities also made it to the QS Asia University Rankings in 2023 but failed to make it in the 2024 top universities in Asia: the Cebu Technological University (Main), the Central Luzon State University, the Central Mindanao University, and the Central Philippine University (Iloilo). All of these universities ranked 701–750 in the 2023 QS Asia University Rankings.

The top university in Asia based on QS Asia University Rankings 2024 is Peking University (ranked 1 in 2023 and 2024; ranked 12 and 17 in QS World University Rankings in 2023 and 2024, respectively). ▲
